1513791887I’m here to help you learn more about…

… who you are and why you do the things you do.

Do you want to know why you always have this overwhelming anxiety?

“Why do I constantly feel like danger may be around the corning?”

Perhaps you wonder why you feel terrible at being in front of others.

“I prefer to stay home rather than hang out with friends.”

Maybe you want to know why you misplace important things.

“Why can’t I seem to listen to what others say?”

Exploring these questions will help you better understand yourself. It leads to the congruency between thoughts and behaviors.

You will learn and incorporate new methods of dealing with these parts and renew your inner strength. During our work together, you will learn tools and skills to handle these parts of you that you might want to change, ultimately leading to more resiliency and positive growth.

Here’s how we’ll get started…

We’ll chat about what has led you to reach out.

I’ll gather some information about you and determine what type of therapy I feel you are best suited for.

We will work together to determine your needs and the expected frequency of sessions. Most clients meet 1-2 times a week.

You’ll discover ways to heal from experiences holding you back.

An experience in your past has told you on a deeper level that the world is dangerous, nothing ever goes right, or that people can’t be trusted. These experiences shape how we see the world.

Memories in your past have made you believe that you are defective, flawed, that no one will ever love you, or that you are not good enough. On the surface, we may know these things aren’t true, but down to your core, these experiences make you question your self-worth and value.

Diving into these past experiences can reshape how you view the world today. Working together, we can replace those deeply rooted irrational negative beliefs with more positive ones that say, “I am safe,” “I have value,” or “I am good enough.”

Have you heard the saying, “Change happens at the end of your comfort zone”?

It’s true. Sometimes you’ll need a little push outside your comfort zone to get the desired results. I’m here to get you there. I come alongside you as you learn new ways of handling life’s challenges.

I’m in your corner!

I have worked through many challenges and hardships, which gives me a deeper understanding of what my clients are going through.

I have a more profound empathy, compassion, and understanding that helps my clients know they are not alone.

About Me

About MichelleI’ve had my own mental health struggles.

I wanted more out of life. I knew I had to do something, or I would end up somewhere I didn’t want to be.

The effects of trauma were so deeply rooted that I didn’t even realize how badly they impacted most areas of my life. Therapy provided me with the tools I needed to heal and continue to provide what I needed to continue growing.

I’ve spent most of my adult life exploring what it means to be mentally well.

At an early age, I was nearly a homicide victim, which led to a PTSD diagnosis. It wasn’t until I got older and had gone through other traumatic events that I knew my traumatic experiences were the root of my chaotic life. I saw the same experience happening to those around me.

I wanted to learn more.

How does a traumatic experience in the past keep people stuck in old patterns today?

How does that happen? How do I fix it?

My spirituality was also an important part of my journey. God guided me to the resources to heal those old battle wounds that were haunting me.

I changed with EMDR, hypnotherapy, mindfulness, and basic talk therapy. I knew God was calling me to use my experience to help others. This led me to pursue this lifelong journey of exploring what it means to be mentally well. I will never stop learning new ways to help people overcome mental health challenges.

Some of my training and experience…

I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University, after which I became certified as a professional through the National Board of Certified Counselors and a practitioner of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) through the EMDR International Association.

I’m an active member of organizations like the American Counselors Association and the American Association of Christian Counselors.

I’ve worked in private group practice settings with various adult individuals and issues such as trauma, PTSD, low self-esteem, grief and loss, bereavement, suicidal ideation, women’s issues, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, life transitions, and ADHD.

When I am not working with my clients…

I am spending time with my spouse and two young children.

We have a big fluffy Samoyed dog, one of the friendliest creatures on earth.

I am also a coffee enthusiast and probably know as much about coffee as I do about mental health.
